New Gate Apartments, constructed in partnership with the Province of BC, City of Kelowna and the John Howard Society, provides 49 studio apartments of longer-term transitional housing with integrated support services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The project was funded by BC Housing through the Provincial Homelessness Initiative (PHI) program and built on land provided by the City of Kelowna.
Greyback Construction Ltd. provided general contracting services for the New Gate Apartments. The mixed use, four storey, wood framed building includes office and program space on the ground floor. The three upper floors each house 14 apartments. On site are 17 parking spaces as well as 16 spaces for bicycle storage.
The building has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.
